New Youth Director - Introduction

Dear High School Students & Parents, I am writing to introduce myself as the new Director of Youth Evangelization. While I did not have the joy of meeting Jess, it is clear by all accounts that she was a wonderful youth minister, and is a beautiful person. Her parting words speak powerfully of God’s grace at work in her. I know I cannot replace her, but just as she did, I hope to show you the face of Christ. I come to you from Pennsylvania, where I was serving 3 parishes as the Director of Adult and Young Adult Faith Formation. I loved what I was doing, but also felt a persistent call to do more for teens, and then God opened this door. I am excited to be here! While I am new to the area, I am not entirely new to the area. I lived in Sandusky for 3 years (2008-2011), where I worked as a Lake Erie Biologist and volunteered with Sandusky Life Teen. Dear you,   First, I want to thank you for an amazing year. It has been such an adventure to meet you, get to know you, spend time in prayer and play with you, etc. I am amazed by what God has done through the joy of socials, work of the Corporal Works of Mercy, taught through Youth Group, and revealed through Koinonia. I write to begin to say goodbye- I am moving back home and wanted the opportunity to tell you with my words. I have Major Depressive Disorder and have been in treatment for it. I tell you this because I want you to know three things. 1) In a Christian community, we are meant to share our weaknesses 2) I love you and this community so much that it would take something very serious for me to leave 3) God is faithful, and life is hard sometimes. This disorder I struggle with does not make me love God less- it makes me appreciate Him more because I know I need Him. TOMORROW: The second to last Corporal Work of Mercy for our Youth Group this year is Clothe the Naked. We're taking clothes (from the clothing drive we had earlier this year) to New Day Resource Center in Sandusky. Meet at St. Peter's Gathering Space at 10:30 tomorrow (Saturday) morning ! We'll serve at New Day until 12:15 and then head back to Huron. ASAP: Our last Corporal Work of Mercy (Shelter the Homeless) will be accomplished through the YES project from June 8th-11th . Another big weekend! THREE things you should know: 1. The YES Project is right around the corner! Please turn in your registration form and payment by MAY 19 so that we can know how many t-shirts to order! Drop the form/payment off at the Church office anytime!  Invite a friend!! 2. Second Friday Social is tomorrow night from 9 pm-11 pm in the Rock (St. Peter's gym). Its free and everyone is welcome! We're playing matball , will have cards/games and pizza. Bring some friends! 3. Graduation Mass is on Sunday at 10:30. Seniors please arrive at the Gathering Space at 10:00 and bring cap and gown. ALL SENIORS ARE WELCOME! Please bring your YES registration form/payment to the LAST YOUTH GROUP of the year this Sunday from 7 pm- 9 pm in the Gathering Space (though we won't stay there!) The Senior Class has planned the evening and ask that you wear comfortable, athletic shoes. Bring a friend and get ready for some fun and awesomeness brought to you by the class of 2016! Please pray for our Confirmation Candidates who will be Confirmed TOMORROW at the Cathedral! Holy Spirit, strengthen our candidates with your gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the Lord, and serve as disciples of Christ.  
This Sunday the youth group was changed so that teens could attend "Addiction: Closer Than You Think!" (April 24th from 6:00- 8:00 pm @ The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky, Ohio ) We encourage all students to join us for this event! We WILL have pizza and planning for the classes of 2016, 2017, and 2018 after 10:30 Mass on Sunday in St. Peter's School Library. The OUTGOING SENIORS will be planning the Graduation Mass and final youth night! The INCOMING JUNIORS AND SENIORS  will brainstorm potential themes for next year and discuss suggestions for summer fun! Please pray for all Confirmation candidates as they prepare to receive the Sacrament a week from tomorrow...Come, Holy Spirit! " One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. SCHEDULE CHANGE!! The April 24th Youth Group has been moved to this Sunday April 17th. Youth Group will be from 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm in the Rock (St. Peter's gym) This change has been made so that teens can attend an important event, "Addiction: Closer Than You Think!" which will be hosted by Celebrate Recovery at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky, Ohio on April 24th from 6:00- 8:00 pm. This is a free event that promotes prevention, awareness, and education of addictions. During Sunday's Youth Group we'll eat some good food, have some gym time, great conversations, and talk about Mary's role as a model disciple. Look forward to seeing you then!
